The Classic Forum Display widget displays a list of forums in a particular group and direct sub groups, grouped by the group the forums are in.  Optionally allows forums within a particular group to be sorted by forum name, last post date, thread counts and reply counts.  You may see this widget in action at http://alexcrome.co.uk/f/ .

Configuration

The following describes the options available when you configure the widget.

Display

The Display tab contains options that control how the widget appears to users.

  • Widget Title – Sets the text that appears in the Widget’s header.
  • Group Banner
    • Show Group Avatar – Specifies whether the Group Avatar is shown next to the Group Name.  The following screenshots show what the group banner looks with and without the avatar.

    • Show Group Description – Specifies whether a group description is rendered under the group name.  The following screenshots show what the group banner looks like with and without a description.

  • Columns
    • Show Last Post Column – Specifies whether the Last Post column is shown to users
    • Show Thread Count Column – Specifies whether the Threads column is shown to users
    • Show Post Count Column – Specifies whether the Posts column is shown to users.

Functionality

The Functionality tab contains options that control how users interact with the Classic Forum Display widget.

  • Allow Favouriting Groups – Specifies whether users may favourite a group from the widget.  If allowed, this is done by clicking the star icon next to the group’s name

  • Allow Favouriting Forums – Specifies whether users may favourite or unfavourite forums from within the widget.  If allowed, this may be done by clicking on the star icon next to a forum’s name.

  • Allow sorting – Specifies whether users may sort forums within individual groups.  If allowed, users may sort Forums by either: the name; last post date; number of threads in the forum or number of posts, simply by clicking on the header of a particular column on a Group’s Forum list

Data

The data tab controls the data that the widget shows to end users.

  • Group – Allows users to show forums from within a particular group.  If this is not set, the Group to display data from will be determined from the context in which the widget is located..
  • Show Forums Within Group – Specifies whether a list of forums that are directly contained within the current Group are shown.
  • Show Forums in Child Group – Specifies whether a list of forums that are contained within Child groups of the Group selected in the current group .

Notes

This widget will only display forums that are contained within the current group, and it’s direct children.  It will not show forums from a group that is a child of a child of the current group.
